Answer: Wethersfield Garden, House, Farm, Carriage House Museum, Hiking & Riding Trails in Dutchess County, NY. Wethersfield is located in Amenia, NY, and was originally the country estate of Chauncey Devereux Stillman (1907-1989). Wethersfield was left to Homeland Foundation, a not for profit organized by Mr. Stillman in 1938. After Mr. Stillmans death in 1989, Wethersfield was opened to the public for open space and scenic enjoyment. Mr. Stillman, an investor and philanthropist, purchased the original property, a dairy farm, and named it Wethersfield Farm, after Wethersfield, Connecticut, where his ancestors had settled in the late 1600s. Wethersfield occupies 1,200 acres in Northeast Dutchess County and consists of Wethersfield House Museum, Gardens, Carriage House, and Farm. The House, Museum, and Gardens are situated at an elevation of 1,200 ft., the highest point in the region, which provides panoramic views of the Catskills to the west and the Berkshires to the north.
