Answer: There is a huge gap for Veterans and their families between the transition services offered by the Military and those offered in the civilian world. Often times, Veterans are left to themselves, when they had so much structure for so long. This creates all sorts of feelings and circumstances that can be difficult for a Veteran or their family to navigate. Warrior Transition Outdoors is the bridge for Veterans into their new lives, allowing them to get connected to both military and civilian communities. We do this through our core function Family Advocacy. Our Family Advocates meet our Veterans and their families first and spend quality time understanding their lives and situations. From there, we build an advocacy plan, including an outdoor adventure, to support the Veteran family unit in the near-term and for the future. And we stay by their side as family forever. Throughout their experience, the Veteran family will be growing relationships and making connections within our family, ensuring a strong, loving, genuine community for each Veteran and their family members. We include the Outdoors as part of their journey in some way, depending on their interests. That may be a hike, hunt, ski trip, camping excursion however we can help them connect with others, connect with themselves, and connect with Mother Nature. The Outdoors is nature's best tool for grounding us, providing healing or insight, teaching us about life, or simply allowing us to relax. We want each Veteran to move forward into the civilian world with a grounded, foundational experience in the Outdoors.
