Answer: The Transitional Housing Support Staff Housing Assistants will work as part of a team to support Village at Ithacas transitional housing program (Village House), a project of the Youth Homelessness Demonstration Program a federally-funded initiative to prevent and end youth homelessness. The Housing Assistants will be primarily responsible for providing on-site support to Village House residents during evenings and weekends. Our mission is to advocate for educational equity and excellence for all students, particularly Black/African American, Hispanic/Latino/Latinx, low income, and any other underserved students within Tompkins County, through strategic community relationships, assessment of the local districts practices and policies, and responsive programs and services. To that end, we address both immediate and basic needs on the individual level, as well as the structural faults in various legal, educational, and other social systems.
