Answer: The mission of the United Way of Lee County is to increase the organized capacity of people to care for one another. One of the ways that we do this in our community is by generating and applying necessary resources to meet basic human needs. The United Way functions as a fundraising organization for the non-profits we support. In doing so, we take the burden of fundraising off of those agencies so they can focus their time, energy and resources on helping more people in the community. We look to improve and strengthen the community by focusing on and funding organizations and programs working in our four key impact areas, areas we believe are the building blocks for a good life: education, health, crisis, and families and communities. We have 20 local agencies that we support: 2-1-1 Community Connections Boys and Girls Club of East AL Child Advocacy Center of Twin Cedars Keeping Family Connections Lee County CASA Lee County Literacy Coalition Project Uplift Sheriff's Girls Ranch Special Deliveries UWLC Student Health Fund Achievement Center Alabama Head Injury Foundation American Red Cross Central East AL Chapter Community Market Domestic Violence Intervention Center East AL Services for the Elderly Food Bank of East AL Joyland CDC Unity Wellness Center UWLC Community Fund
