Answer: The Society of African Women Professionals (SOAWP) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization socially established in December 2021 and legally incorporated in June 2022 by Nigerian American, Charley Chioma Ukwubiwe. Our mission is to elevate African women and girls through mentorship, network and philanthropy. Based on a lack of cultural belonging the founder felt throughout childhood and university, as well as the wider issues of systemic racism and xenophobia, an opportunity was recognized for the formation of a virtual organization that could easily connect like-minded professional African women in the US and provide a source of mentorship and financial assistance to underprivileged and underrepresented African women and girls within the United States and Africa.
