Answer: ABOUT: The Haight is Chicago's Northwestern suburb's newest premier event space. Located in the heart of Elgin, IL and less than a mile from the Metra station, The Haight is surrounded by historic neighborhoods, Grand Victoria Casino, and more! The Haight is a beautifully converted loft/warehouse that creates a unique venue for weddings, corporate events, benefits, reunions, and various private functions. The first floor space consists of 2,000 square feet and is the perfect setting for a wedding ceremony, cocktail hour, or other casual gatherings, and can accommodate up to 100 seated guests or 175 standing. The second floor boasts 7,000 square feet with seating for 300, or 250 with a dance floor. The architectural elements from this historic 1890 building includes timber beams and exposed brick walls, which together create a cozy environment for guests to socialize. HISTORY: The Haight was built in 1890 as the Elgin Storage & Transfer Company, which housed the horses and carriages that carried the Elgin watch factory workers to and from work prior to the automobile being invented. From 1926 on, the building housed numerous companies including the Elgin Saddelry and Milk Company, Cable Piano Company, and in 1940, Ludwig Dairy. In 1985, the building was purchased by John Haight, who took to restoring the building while keeping in much of the original woodwork and details. The rest is history.
