Answer: The Stephen Foster Drama Association is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) performing arts organization which produces live shows & concerts every summer at the outdoor amphitheater in Bardstown, Kentucky. Most notably, the company produces "The Stephen Foster Story", a musical drama that uses over 50 of Stephen Foster's melodies to tell the story of My Old Kentucky Home. The show began in 1959 and has performed consecutively each summer for over 60 years. The amphitheater operates from mid June through early September every summer, hosting more than 60 performances of "The Stephen Foster Story" and other Broadway-style shows through mid-August, as well as a full concert schedule that typically concludes the season. Past concerts have features names such as the Dixie Chicks, Keith Urban, The Band Perry, Davy Jones, John Michael Montgomery, Starship, Gary Puckett, and many more. The Stephen Foster Drama Association employs only three full-time staff members year round, but grows by roughly 100 seasonal employees during the operating season.
