Answer: Founded in 2000, by Artistic Director Sylvia Amorino, Solo Opera is a 501(c)(3) non-profit chamber opera company. After a brief hiatus due to the economic slowdown,, we reopened our doors and regained our non-profit status on September 24, 2012. We achieved wonderful success producing several high quality operas at the beautiful Lesher Center for the Arts and around the Bay Area: The Telephone (2000), The Medium (2000), Amahl and the Night Visitors (2001) (2002) (2003) , Riders to the Sea (2003), and a double bill of operas The Old Maid and the Thief (2004) and A Hand of Bridge (2004). In addition, through our traveling outreach program S.O.L.O. (Scenes from Opera and Light Opera) we produced concerts, scenes, and full operas including Menottis The Telephone (2003) and Mozarts Bastien and Bastienna (2004) and The Impresario (2004). We also started a very rewarding outreach program to the youth (Hansel and Gretel scene) and concerts to seniors of our community. As we reopen, we are busy with fundraising and concerts - working towards producing a fully staged production of Hansel and Gretel on December 19 & 20, 2014. We thank you for your support of Solo Opera!
