Anthropologists tell us that early man lived for thousands of years without any significant change in their way of life no real advancement or development until they discovered and harnessed the power of fire. Before that moment they only survived. The discovery of fire allowed not only for the practical benefits of cooking food and warmth from the cold, but it delivered the indirect benefit of allowing minds to wander for the first time into the realm of imagination. Having this opportunity to place survival on hold and stare, if only for a moment, into the fire, eventually gave way to creative thoughts, new inventions and ultimately real human growth, innovation and prosperity. There's a very real parallel between the survival mode of ancient times and the state which needy kids experience today. The kids we serve are in a constant state of survival; whether they're trying to find out where their next meal will come from, keeping themselves from being attacked or robbed, or protecting their loved ones or pets; they dont have a moment to let their guard down. They're surviving. Our principal goal is to help eliminate survival mode by creating simple events & opportunities for these kids to stop and stare into the fire. History proves that when we're provided moments of imagination then growth and healing will follow. Join us!
