Answer: Goal of Program: The SSJ Volunteer Corps offers women and men the opportunity to work directly with the poor through Sisters of St. Joseph of Rochester. "We are open to every kind of ministry for which we have the grace and gifts, rooted in our commitment to love and serve the Dear Neighbor." Volunteers live in community sharing meals and their work; they reflect on how they serve the people at their work sites, and how their own lives are affected by this experience. It will be a challenging, life changing and fun-filled experience. Length of Service: Long-term: Six to 12 months. Short-term: One week up to 3 months. Requirements: All volunteers need to be willing and able to work with others, have a desire to live simply in community, be flexible, have a willingness to try new experiences, have a good sense of humor and have good physical and emotional health. Long term volunteers: Women and men between the ages of 21 and 35 years. Short term volunteers: Women and men 18 years and older. We are open to having College Groups and Church Youth Groups (13 years & older when accompanied by an adult supervisor) for a week long program.
