Answer: In March 2010, Sahaba Initiative was established as an inner-city project by a group of youth volunteers with the guidance of elders. The founding members, from diverse backgrounds, came up with the idea of Sahaba Initiative through collaborative discussions during their high school and early collage years, and this idea led to action. The initial phase of the project focused on providing support to individuals facing personal and social challenges, and a monthly homeless feeding program was established with the help of the youth in the community. The project gradually expanded to offer mentorship and social services, guiding individuals and families through various processes to obtain assistance. In 2018, we purchased a 3500-square-foot space to build our family service center that serves as our headquarters. We provide therapy services, support groups, case management, and community education services at this location. We have a community room that holds 50+ people which is open for nonprofits to hold workshops, retreated, and board meetings Additionally, we house various other nonprofits that supplement our work such as Tayba Foundation and Inland Empire Community Collaborative. In 2022, Sahaba Initiative purchased a former drug house and transformed it into our Food and Wellness Center. Our Food & Wellness Center is rebuilding lives by providing access to healthy food, nutritional counseling, health education, community engagement programs, and community restoration. This space not only focuses on providing direct services but changing the culture in the inner city. Our vision to transform lives by leading community programs to break cycles of poverty. Our Mission is to transform families in crisis by addressing core areas in housing, hunger, economic stability, and mental well-being.
