Answer: Rubber City Theatre's, formerly Rubber City Shakespeare Company, mission is to bring affordable Shakespeare and classical drama to the Akron, Ohio, area. Through the use of our "Free Theatre Project" we stage Shakespeare and other plays that are accessible for everyone. The "Free Theatre Project includes free staged readings throughout the year and Pay-As-You-Like-It performances for each production in an artistic year. Using Shakespeare's plays and other classical drama as an educational tool, we strive to inspire the next generation of theatergoers and performers, while also producing and providing entertaining classical theatre for the northeast Ohio community. In 2017, we changed our name to Rubber City Theatre to better address our community. We will still have a foundation of Shakespeare and classic works but will be expanding to American classics and classic musicals to benefit our viewing audiences. We have also expanded our educational and children's programs to include several summer camps and children's performances. We aim to expand our free and affordable offerings alongside these new endeavors.
