So we purchase straight from the makers whenever possible: glassblowers, clothing makers, woodworkers, letterpresses, soap makers and more. 90% of what we carry is American-made, but we reserve the other 10% for fair trade. We believe in supporting the work artisans around the world are creating, in some of the poorest countries. About 50% of the brands we carry are owned or created by women. We don't seek out woman-owned enterprises; we don't have to. Women are designing, crafting, making and innovating out there, and we find them everywhere.
