Answer: Pawsitive Alliance is a volunteer driven organization founded in 2005 to reduce the euthanasia of adoptable dogs and cats in Washington State by increasing adoptions, supporting spay and neuter programs and providing education and resources to improve pet retention. Because Pawsitive Alliance is not brick and mortar, we have the flexibility to move our resources around the State and target those geographic areas with historically high euthanasia rates. Pawsitive Alliance hosts multi-shelter and rescue adoption events providing shelter animals additional exposure and opportunities to be adopted. Our events typically draw 200-350 attendees with 40-90 animals adopted in three hours. Since 2008, over 3,500 cats and dogs have found new homes at our adoption events. In 2012 we held our first event outside of Puget Sound - SuperPets in Yakima. During the event 178 cats and dogs were adopted. Pawsitive Alliance's SNIP SNIP (spay neuter increase program) provides funds to assist low income families spay neuter their companion animals. In 2012 we helped cover the cost to alter 750 cats and dogs. Our goal for 2013 is 1,000 spay and neuter surgeries. Pawsitive Alliance provides resources to adoption families to assist them in selecting a companion animals that is a good fit for their home and lifestyle. In 2013 we are launching a pilot project to provide short, easy to follow training videos for all families adopting a dog.
