Answer: Nupix has invented and begun developing the keystone component that will unlock the future of retail; full-color interactive images across the entire price rail edge that consume 'No Power'. Nupix's display technology enables large, energy-efficient, full-color liquid crystal displays (LCDs). These reflective LCDs will provide product management, customer interaction and advertising capabilities at the shelf edge. Nupix's key inventions are a novel electroded sheet (eSheet) structure that forms the addressing planes and a low-cost method for making the liquid crystal displays (LCDs). The eSheets have highly conductive wire electrodes embedded in low-cost polymer sheets to solve the long-line addressing problems. Therefore, full-color price rails can be manufactured to span anything from a 4 foot shelf section to the entire length of a store aisle. Long eShelves will be capable of displaying over 100 products on a single eShelf. The eShelf market opportunity is enormous. It also includes the huge digital infrastructure to manage products, interact with customers and employees, and opens up advertising at the shelf edge. Nupix's invention of the electrode sheet (eSheet) technology provided an avenue to economically manufacture very large reflective LCDs by simply sandwiching a liquid crystal material between two orthogonal eSheets. In addition to price rail displays, eSheet LCDs will enable applications such as: electronic school blackboards, whiteboards, billboards, large signage, tabletops, pictures, portraits, walls, floors, windows and many other large display applications. The eSheet will allow the LCD technology to spread its dominance to large color static displays.
