Answer: NoaNet is Washington states nonprofit broadband provider. We currently operate a reliable, open-access broadband network totaling over 3,300 fiber miles across Washington providing high-speed connectivity to nearly 260,000 people in rural and underserved areas. In 2010, in a landmark opportunity to secure Washingtons economic future, NoaNet was granted an infusion of $140 million in federal grants. These grants helped us to expand our network to reach more than 170 communities and 2,000 schools, hospitals, emergency responders, libraries, colleges and universities. We led this effort on behalf of more than 50 public and private organizations including, public utility districts, ports, tribes, cities, counties and competitive carriers from across the state that joined together to bring broadband to their communities. Today we continue to expand our network, bringing high quality broadband into into unserved and underserved communities in Washington. Universal broadband will make life more livable, businesses more productive, jobs more plentiful, and the Internet more accessible.
