Answer: NanoFexs Metal-carbon microspheres have the potential to revolutionize the groundwater remediation field. Heres why: 1) Multifunctional Approach to Remediation Optimal Reactivity, Transport and Adsorption Characteristics. Our carbon microspheres are decorated with NZVI nanoparticles with the high surface areas needed for effective dechlorination. Our carbon microspheres are the optimal size for effective transport through ground water saturated sediments. They can be stabilized against sedimentation by the addition of inexpensive materials (e.g. starch). Our carbon microspheres strongly adsorb organics, due to their hydrophobicity, essentially increasing the local concentrations at the reactive metal sites (e.g. NZVI) for enhanced reactivities. 2) No Noble Metals Cheaper Raw Materials, No Metals Left in Ground The multiple functionalities described above allow for high reactivity, with low cost of raw materials. In contrast to other technologies, we do not use Palladium to enhance reaction rates, thereby lowering the cost considerably. 3) Patent Application Filed Protected Market Advantage The current groundwater remediation market almost entirely consists of ideal formulations developed out of public domain technologies. Strong patent protection will enable NanoFex to maintain market leadership beyond simple first mover advantage. Although there are a few technologies that have patents, none have our multifunctional design. Because our technology is novel, using a commonly accepted technology, and attacks chlorinated compounds in three ways, our carbon microspheres have a high likelihood of market penetration.
