Answer: The purpose of this page is to create an awareness of Na Koa Kai Canoe Club, Inc. which is a Hawaiian cultural immersion program based out of San Diego Mission Bay. This is an adult volunteer run youth only program centered around the Hawaiian canoe. Na Koa Kai Canoe Club is a 501(c)(3) Nonprofit Charity Organization. Na Koa Kai Canoe Club has three purposes: Develop an appreciation of cultural heritage by educating our opio (youth) about the Hawaiian and Pacific Islander culture through olelo (language), na mea hana lima (hand crafts), oli (chants), na pule (prayers), and moolelo kahiko O Hawaii (ancient History of Hawaii) in a safe, healthy and nurturing environment. To have our hui (club) recognized as a world class cultural immersion program centered around the Hawaiian canoe by promoting the Hawaiian culture, traditions and the development of our youth as future leaders. To conduct Hawaiian outrigger canoe regattas and festivals whose purpose will be to teach leadership and teamwork and create an opportunity for our youths and our community to experience through participation the essence of the Hawaiian culture. Teaching our opio (youth) about the importance of maintaining a healthy and active lifestyle. This will be accomplished by combining wellness education including sound mind & body. And by preparing and encouraging them to participate in competitive outrigger canoe races. On this page you will find periodic updates of events and fundraiser we hold that benefit our club and the community.
