Over careers with large enterprises and fledgling startups, we'd noticed a frustrating pattern emerge. Marketing operations took too much effort because there was no blueprint for building a best-in-class demand engine. CRM, marketing automation, and business intelligence solutions were powerful but too flexible, resulting in endless customizations and too many marketing dollars sunk into developers and consultants. Why should obtaining marketing insights be such a painstaking process? Meanwhile, marketing leaders were increasingly marginalized because they couldnt directly link their activities to bottom line growth. A focus on lead-centric metrics made it difficult to articulate the value of marketing to other executives. Why should marketing operate separately from the opportunity-centric model used by the rest of the business? After discussing over coffee at Muddy Waters cafe in San Francisco, we got to work on a solution. Mperativ was created to secure marketings position as an invaluable asset to the business and make it possible for marketers to draw connections between their actions and revenue outcomes.
