Answer: (MMRC) Mini Mermaid Running Club and Young Tritons Running Club, est. 2009 empowers children to find their strength inside & out, as well as be kind, authentic voices among their peers & in their communities. We believe teaching children self-compassion leads to empathy for others & that strong kids build strong communities. MMRC was developed through a collaboration of professionals in the fields of health, nutrition, education, fitness and mental health. We use movement as a catalyst to increase a child's sense of self-efficacy & teach children to set and achieve goals propelling them forward in life, serving over 3000 children/year in the US and abroad. With thoughtful curriculums for girls & boys, we aim to expand a child's capacity to have an impact on their lives and the lives of others within their community. We believe by investing in children; we are investing in our communities & our future. A diverse Board of Directors supports our efforts as we bring best practices in child development, health, & wellness. Volunteer coaches lead small groups of 10 children and are given a handbook, training with MMRC staff, supplies for their team and entry to a local 5K. MMRC participants train for a local 5K race while participating in 6-week program meeting bi-weekly for 1.5 hours.
