Answer: MECHA is a private non-profit organization founded in 1985 to establish and ensure that adequate representation and services are provided to meet the needs of the Latino population in Mercer County. Our mission is to provide and facilitate access to social services and advocate on behalf of the Latino community. Our staff is bilingual and bicultural, representative of the community it serves. Although the organizations focus is on the Latino community, MECHA serves people in need from all of Mercer Countys communities, working to provide them with the skills and services necessary to promote self sufficiency. MECHA provides home energy assistance, family counseling, life skills education, parenting skills development, diabetes prevention education, translation services, family caregivers education, HUD certified housing counseling, and classes in citizenship preparation and English as a Second Language (ESL).
