Answer: Mentors of Minorities in Education, Inc. (M.O.M.I.E) is a youth-serving non-profit organization with a mission to nurture the genius of children and create a transformative learning experience. Since 2000, we have served over 12,000 children and youth ages 3 to 18 in DC and Maryland--a majority whom are low-income children of color. Through our After School and Summer Camp programming, we aim to tap into the "genius" of every child. Our year-round education programs provide a safe, enriching, and nurturing space during the critical time out of school for our children, providing them with experiences that connect them to the world and their communities. We work to make a long-term investment in our children during their key developmental years that are critical towards academic success and closing the achievement gap. At M.O.M.I.E, we use academic support, the arts, humanities, history and social justice as the foundation for propelling our young people forward in the 21st Century world. Our After School Programming takes place at these school sites in DC and Maryland: Neval Thomas Elementary School, Lee Montessori PCS, Georgia Avenue Community-Based Facility, Whittier Education Campus, Latin American Montessori Bilingual PCS, Capital City PCS, Carmody Hills Elementary School, and Thomas Johnson Elementary School.
