Answer: Los Angeles Greek Film Festival is holding its 14th annual LAGFF 1-21 October We will be showcasing new films from Greek filmmakers worldwide. Our foremost goal is to promote Greek Cinema and cultural exchange while bridging the gap between Greek filmmakers and Hollywood. Every year LAGFF offers a diverse program of films, a panel discussion and a tribute to a prominent Greek-American director. Orpheus Awards are given to the most outstanding new films in the dramatic, documentary, and short film categories. As seen in the past few years, LAGFF is witnessing a new wave of Greek Cinema. Past festival participants include award-winning directors and filmmakers such as Alexander Payne, Penelope Spheeris, Phedon Papamichael, Olympia Dukakis; studio executives such as Jim Gianopulos (Fox Filmed Entertainment Chairman) and Kary Antholis (President, HBO Films) serve on LAGFFs Advisory Board. Past Orpheus Award Juries have included producers, directors, noted film critics, and award winning actors, including Stratton Leopold (Producer); Joan Churchill (Director/Cinematographer) as well as screenwriters, editors, professors, and distributors. The LAGFF team is committed to making every effort possible to cultivate cross-cultural communication which benefits our sponsors who enjoy exposure through TV, radio, print, and internet as well as LAGFFs own website, catalog, and on-site events. Sponsors include Latsis Foundation, 1821 Pictures, Chivas Regal, Earth Friendly Products, HBO and many other global brands.
