We seek design directives from bold clients and beautiful landsca In 2003 Charlie Lazor founded LAZOR OFFICE / FlatPak to pursue a broadspectrum of design programs and scales, including architecture and environments. The design work at our office begins with identifying key needs and problems through a process of observation and analysis to develop solutions that synthesize the complex whole into an elegant, holistic solution. The commands of the day; cost, sustainability, and new technology, housed within the constraints of the everyday world, govern our work. We use both the latest generation of digital fabrication technology or the simplest tool in the shop, to guide a design process that yields purposeful, valued forms that are easily made with minimal material and labor inputs and built to last. A successful design is not JUST a pretty form. It is a rigorously developed condition that requires cognitive and intuitive thought processes operating simultaneously to yield forms that are legible and useful, thereby extending the users potential to achieve their goal. Form for Lazor Office is more like a tool, something to be used to achieve an intention. When this condition is achieved, beauty is present, both as form and function, indivisible and synthesized. For Lazor Office, this is the pursuit of a holistic design solution.
