Founded in 1980 by a group of volunteers, Laurel House has grown to include a full spectrum of services including domestic abuse prevention education programs for all age groups; 24/7 Hotline; Community Counseling; legal advocacy; safe haven 9 bedroom shelter for women and children; post-shelter housing; and, DART (domestic abuse response team) - an on-site emergency response program, partnering with law enforcement and medical personnel. The mission of Laurel House is to advocate for and empower those impacted by domestic violence by providing crisis intervention, safe haven, supportive programs and resources; as well as to advance social change through preventative education and through community training and collaboration to foster a coordinated response to domestic abuse.
