Answer: International Wine Center (IWC) is a wine school licensed by the New York State Education Department for the purpose of providing professional training for individuals who hold or aspire to careers in the field of wine and spirits. One of the countrys most established and respected wine schools, International Wine Center opened its doors in New York City in 1982. IWC was the first organization in the U.S. to offer the programs of the Wine & Spirit Education Trust (WSET), the worlds leading wine education organization, beginning in 1994. In 2003, IWC became the U.S. Headquarters of WSET. More than 280 individuals have achieved the WSET Diploma in Wines & Spirits through International Wine Center; this credential is the traditional pre-requisite for those who wish to become Master of Wine students. IWCs president, Mary Ewing-Mulligan MW, is the first woman in the U.S. to become a Master of Wine. IWCs mission is to deliver independent-minded wine and spirits study and responsible enjoyment, devoid of promotional interest.
