Answer: EcoWorks International (EWI) is a nonprofit based in Miami, Florida, working in Haiti since January 2009. EWIs mission is to break the cycle of poverty through a comprehensive and integrated approach based on four pillars: Economic Development Education Healthcare Environment Economic development includes a 20,000 chicken egg farm, an entrepreneurship center, a fruit-tree nursery and a vocational school. Buttressing the diverse economic initiatives are a Montessori school for 200 children, a regional healthcare center and a reforestation program. EWIs partner community is the commune of Ganthier comprising 45 villages and a total population of 80,000. In 2010, EWI temporary closed its programs and moved all its resources to the Bernard Mevs Hospital in Port-au-Prince to shoulder the Haitian medical teams in their efforts to save lives following the devastation earthquake.
