Answer: EcoVivarium is a 501c3 nonprofit Living Museum and Rescue exclusively featuring reptiles, amphibians, and arthropods. Our Animal Ambassadors are 98% rescues and 2% donated. Ambassadors range from common geckos and ball pythons to critically endangered species like our Giant Galapagos Tortoise. Upon arrival at EcoVivarium, each animal receives a veterinary check-up and any needed treatment. Once medical is complete, they begin rehabilitation for medical and behavioral issues. Animal Ambassadors are constantly training and learning. Every Ambassador receives a minimum of one hundred hours of specialized training before meeting with the general public in the museum. Many of our monitors and giant species have more than a thousand hours of training to ensure public safety during interactions. Additionally, every staff member at EcoVivarium is trained to read the body language of the individual animals. The animals always have thei final say in interactions. We never force an animal to interact out of respect for the animals and to ensure public safety. All museum visitors receive a guided tour of the facility. You will meet several of our Ambassador Animals as they learn about their individual stories, threats to survival in the wild, and connections to human religion, cultures, and history. Depending on the tour selected, guests are invited to pet or hold animals during their interactive experience. EcoVivarium depends on the generous support of donors like you. We receive no government funding.
