Answer: Overview The Downtown Community Planning Council ("DCPC") (formerly named the Centre City Advisory Committee) is a group of twenty-seven members who are elected for a two year term to represent downtown residential homeowners and tenants, commercial property owners and business people, charitable, civic and cultural groups. The DCPC meets monthly. You can view meeting location information and the DCPC Downtown Docket by going to the events calendar. WHAT DOES THE DCPC DO? The DCPC provides a vehicle for public participation relating to the growth and redevelopment of downtown San Diego and serves as a communications link between its citizens, CivicSD and the City Council. The DCPC also represents downtown on the citywide Community Planning Committee. DCPC members publish The Downtown Docket, a newsletter to keep the community advised of issues and meeting schedules. The DCPC sponsors various community meetings and workshops to seek public input on community matters downtown. WHAT ARE THE DCPC MEMBERS RESPONSIBILITIES Once a month the DCPC meets to review development and design proposals, redevelopment plans and programs, development and loan agreements and other downtown development policies and programs. Affordable housing, parking, transportation needs, street lighting, homelessness and social issues are some of the subjects discussed and studied.
