Answer: The Depression Connection for Recovery (a non-profit) was created in 2000. It began with the mental health diagnosis of Bipolar for retired Methodist Minister Tony Campbell. As Tony began his journey towards recovery with his diagnosis, he found there were no depression support groups in Tarrant County. Tony began to find so many others who were also struggling with depression and anxiety that could use group support to Aid in their Recovery and Wellness. With colleagues, and friends and other health professionals, he put together a team to lead support groups in Fort Worth and Tarrant County. This team today consists of the Executive Director, Administrative staff, Recovery Support Leaders, and a Board of Directors. We now have support groups in Fort Worth, Bedford, Grapevine, Watauga, and Arlington. In addition to our community-based Depression/Bipolar Support Groups, we have seen an ever-growing need to provide mental health services to (4) population specific groups in Fort Worth and Tarrant County. The groups are: The Homeless, Young Adults, Veterans and Clinical Settings. We have the following groups: For the Homeless A support group for the Presbyterian Night Shelters (PNS) Safe Haven . Safe Haven provides respite care for men and women who are homeless and mentally ill. For Clinical Settings Two In-Patient support groups for Mesa Springs Behavioral Health Hospital in SW. Fort Worth For Young Adults A support group for Young Adults (18-28) For Veterans We are working on funding to provide this group in the future.
