Answer: The Czech School of California officially opened its doors to students in the fall of 2012 in Palo Alto. That fall, scores of students flocked to the School to take advantage of its comprehensive curriculum, which encompasses not just the Czech language, but also Czech literature, history, geography and culture. By the second semester, student enrollment exceeded all expectations and the School quickly became the largest Czech school in the United States. Today, the School has an enrolled student-body of over 80 students, ranging from ages 18 months to adults, at four Bay Area locations, including Palo Alto, Mountain View, San Francisco and Lafayette. Besides its incredible expansion, during its first year of operations, CSC also managed to forge two exclusive partnerships. The first, with Pragues prestigious Charles University, which entitles the School to work with the University on developing the latest methodologies for teaching Czech as a second language to children and adults. And the second, with the Czech Ministry of Education, which has officially recognized the School as a charter school and has permitted administrators to issue report cards equivalent to those distributed to students in the Czech Republic. In addition to offering instruction to students, the School also organizes events and activities for the local Czech and Slovak communities. These have included culinary shows, holiday parties and conferences, to name a few.
