Answer: Cultivate the City is a social enterprise dedicated to sustainable farming practices that emphasize vertical growing techniques. The efficient utilization of small spaces in large cities forces urban farmers to be creative about where and how they grow food. Cultivate the City is passionate about providing our knowledge of vertical farming to the larger community Our urban agriculture solutions can be found at homes, schools, community centers, restaurants, and public spaces across the Washington, DC area. We use our own Vertical Edible Garden (VEG) Towers to produce more food in less space. The VEG tower system uses pots-- made from reclaimed material-- that accommodate four plants each. The pots are designed for easy stacking, and up to five can be used on one tower to grow 20 individual plants. Our goal is to grow as much food as possible in the space allotted. Often that means growing up, or vertically. Weve designed our own Vertical Edible Garden (VEG) Towers to produce up to 20 pounds of harvest every two months with the use of only one tower. Vertical growing with our product provides urban farmers with a fast, safe, cost-effective, and easy-to-build solution.
