Answer: Conyngham Sales Company was founded in Conyngham, Pennsylvania in 1946 by Henry Dryfoos III. The company was formed to represent Great Lakes Steel Corporation in the sale and installation of Quonset Huts in the Central Pennsylvania area. Great Lakes became Stran-Steel Corporation in the early 50s and shortly after, Stran stopped manufacturing Quonsets. In 1952, Mr. Dryfoos moved the company to the Washington, DC Metropolitan area and began concentrating on light gage steel framing and pre-engineered steel buildings. In 1959, Henry Dryfoos IV joined the family business and Conyngham Sales went on to become one of the leaders in the sale of steel framing and pre-engineered steel buildings. In 1967, the company expanded their operation from strictly sales and installation to performing the entire general contract where Stran Buildings were the principal product involved. In 1989 Stran Buildings, which had been purchased by Amca International Corporation in 1979, was merged with a sister company, Varco-Pruden Buildings and became VP Buildings, Inc. At the present time Conyngham Sales Company is their oldest builder, having been representing Stran/VP since 1946. The main emphasis of Conyngham Sales is on the sales and installation of VP Buildings as a sub-contractor. However, all concrete work, steel work, roofing, siding and insulation can be performed in-house with all specialty items such as electrical, HVAC, plumbing, etc., subcontracted with our direct supervision.
