Answer: San Francisco based artist Rene Carol Capone (b. September 22, 1978) is an American painter known for his depiction of whimsical and erotic themes; often used together. His work has drawn global notice. Capone was born in Niskayuna, NY and is the oldest of four children. He is of no relation to famed mobster Al Capone. He attended the Parsons School of Design in Manhattan, New York City. Upon completion in 2000, he moved to San Francisco where he currently resides. In 2004, GlaxoSmithKline became his first corporate collector. Private collectors of Capone's work can be found in the United States of America, Canada, Sweden, England, France, Japan, and the Netherlands. In an 2007 interview with a San Francisco Bay Times reporter covering a solo exhibition of his, Capone came out as being a victim of severe childhood abuse. That same year Rene started working on his Hedgehog Boy comics as way to heal and deal with severe mental trauma. He would like to empower abused children of any age to rightfully stand up for themselves, love one another and dare to be better than what the world gave them. Capone self published "The Legend of Hedgehog Boy" in 2012, the story about a boy who venture far into the woods to find his identity. Other publishing achievements include: Stripped: The Illustrated Male from Bruno Gmunder. His work has been featured in XY magazine, The Advocate, RDF, Blue and is featured widely over the world wide web. 2014 -2016 saw Rene in recovery from two hip replacement and a fractured left femur. After three surgeries he made a successful new series of paintings titled "The Chronicles of Zebra Boy" and then developed a pop up art gallery called "The 611 Hyde Street Art Department" located at 611 Hyde street in SF CA.
