Answer: I have been quilting for over 25 years. I began dyeing fabrics to use in my quilts 12 years ago and grew from reinterpreting traditional quilt patterns to creating my own style of art quilts. I am constantly inspired by the color and patterns I see around me. I find that I must be making something, and the media that sings to me is white fabric and dye. I dye fabric and then use this fabric to make art quilts as well as items I call Everyday Art: bags to carry your stuff, silk scarves to drape around your neck: these are all opportunities to create an item that brings joy to the senses of sight and touch. The quArt (art quilts to hang on the wall) I make is interactive art...purposefully abstract and mounted for hanging in any direction, to be combined to create larger compositions that can be altered at the whim of the viewer. Ive also begun working in 3 dimensions, and have created a series of houses made from art quilts. My goal is to fill life with color & pattern that makes people happy.
