This is not a new concept but as we have seen by the recent credit crisis, many lenders did not follow this principle. I am proud to say that in my 18 yrs as a Professional Loan Officer, I have never once given my clients one of the Toxic Arms that is now hurting many homeowners and the economy at large. The short-term benefits of those loans never seemed worth the risk and potential downside. Since they never made sense to me, I could not recommend them to my clients. While other lenders were making large commissions offering those loans, I chose not to. While there are times that Adjustable Rate Mortgages (ARMs) make sense, they are usually the exception and not the rule. I believed then as I do now that long term fixed rates are the best choice for most people. Any decision to take an ARM should be made only after considering what your financial picture and the worst case payment will be when the loan is set to adjust. Because we take more interest in our clients financial well being, all of our clients are personal referrals from other clients and the local real estate community. We are a local lender with real people that you can talk to and meet face to face.
