Answer: We're a Western North Carolina-based craft essential oil distillery specializing in Southern Appalachian native species. We have a small commercial-scale stainless steel distillation plant on our 45 acre forest farm in Marshall, NC; near Asheville. We produce a variety of wild-crafted tree essential oils that are difficult or impossible to find on the market for both wholesale and retail customers. We also distill commercial "waste" products such as juiced fresh Ginger root and Fraser Fir Christmas tree trimmings. By summer 2017 we expect to be producing essential oils from organically cultivated native and exotic herb species as well. We're constantly experimenting with new (to us) species and are open to inquiries for contract distillations. Ecological sustainability and quality are our first priorities as an artisanal essential oil producer. To this end we incorporate the following policies: Use of custom-built stainless steel and borosilicate glass equipment. Local filtered spring water for steam. Year-round creek water for cooling. Use recycled/waste materials when possible and prudent. Compost or find added value for our own waste stream (e.g. using spent wood/needles as mulch). Healthy pruning and removing invasive vines from wild-crafted trees. Only distill endangered/threatened trees when they are naturally fallen or otherwise being trimmed or removed. Work with the US National Forest service for vetted/approved/permitted harvesting. Worth with the USDA toward a forest conservation plan on our farm. Never harvest an entire population of wild-crafted species and leave flowers/seeds for further propagation. Organic growing practices and invasive species/weed control. Always work towards greater energy/water efficiency. GC/MS Analysis of our larger batches of essential oils.
