Answer: BBy is a medical device company that condenses breast milk in the NICU so nurses don't spend all day defrosting milk for their colleague's next shift and instead can get back to focusing on what matters: patient care. Our device is easy to use and the end results are a powder that can easily be reconstituted into 100% mother's milk by just adding the appropriate amount of water. Our breast milk powder is as close to 1:1 with liquid breast milk as possible. Our milk retains 78% of IgA and 85% of IgG the building blocks of immunity in a child and the only defense from illness until the internal immune system is functional. That's over 2x better than even pasteurization and on par with transfers from Mother to Baby! Milk for infants, without compromises. In 2015, Dr. Langer while still in medical school wanted to help a couple who adopted a child who was not thriving. A stomach infection was not allowing the infant to absorb vital nutrients and she was losing weight rapidly. The parents, in extreme duress, asked Dr. Langer what could be done at which time he took it upon himself to reach out to another mother who produced an excess of milk. Ultimately the baby thrived and he decided that upon graduation he would dedicate himself to breast milk advocacy and access training. He was subsequently introduced to his partner Dr. Blanca Uscanga Aguilar, PhD. They collaborated and worked over the past 5 years to make this a reality. This is their passion and their privilege and are committed to making sure that preventable infant mortality in the NICU is a thing of the past.
