While ALAs projects range in scale and type, they all share ALAs minimalist and playful design vocabulary, and seamlessly combine comfort, wellness, smart planning and fresh interior design concepts. Because the studio often gives form to services and business models that have few spatial precedents, ALAs process begins with a discovery phase in which an organizations founders, team members, and users share their individual experiences, desires and needs. ALA helps a client articulate what they need and, together, identifies challenges to be addressed through design. ALAs ethnographic research thus becomes the basis of programming and functionality, and later informs concepts for layouts and finishes. Founded by Alda Ly in 2017, ALA is a certified Minority & Woman-owned Business Enterprise (M/WBE) in NYC.
